As an Advocacy Corps organizer, you’ll connect local activists and leaders with your members of Congress to affect big, long-term change. You’ll also learn critical organizing skills and put them into practice with hands-on leadership experience.
When it became clear that this year’s cohort of Advocacy Corps organizers would have to be trained online, I was nervous. The Washington Summer Intensive training is usually 10 full days of learning and growing as a group. How was this going to translate in a virtual setting?
FCNL is proud to introduce the 2020-2021 Advocacy Corps. These 20 young people will advocate for immigration reform from August 2020 to May 2021. The organizers will engage their local communities, build relationships with members of Congress, and advance FCNL’s work towards peace and justice.
In early March, when reports hit that the coronavirus was spreading throughout the country, we knew that FCNL had to shift our 500-person Spring Lobby Weekend from a physical event in Washington, DC, to a virtual gathering.

The FCNL community is grieving the loss of our Friend and activist, Mimosa Thomas. She passed away on April 26, 2020. Her love for her border community in the Rio Grande Valley led her to grassroots organizing.

More than 450 young adults from 40 states have registered to virtually attend Spring Lobby Weekend (SLW), March 29-31. They will attend from meetings, churches, colleges, and universities.
I didn’t know that attending Spring Lobby Weekend in 2016 would change the course of my life.
