In less than a month, FCNL’s Daren Caughron will join global leaders, climate justice advocates, and state delegates in Baku the capitol of Azerbaijan between Russia and Iran on the shores of the Caspian Sea. He’ll be there for the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29).
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals heard arguments for State of Texas v. USA on October 10 to determine the future of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and, in turn, the future of hundreds of thousands of people supported by the program. This case’s potential to end DACA highlights the urgent and grave need to protect our undocumented friends.
Last week, FCNL’s Amelia Kegan joined the “Nuns on the Bus and Friends” bus tour to mobilize voters across the country to support inclusive democracy and help build a better, more just future.

From Saturday, September 21 through Monday, September 23, eleven organizers from different diaspora country backgrounds across the United States gathered at Friends Place in Washington D.C. for an important convening.

Those were the inspiring words of Amira Musallam, who spoke with us together with Mel Duncan this past Thursday in Voices from the West Bank: Stories of Resistance and Protection. Amira is a Palestinian Christian peace advocate, while Mel is the co-founder of Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP), a world leader in unarmed civilian protection.
As President Joe Biden’s term in office comes to an end, he can cement his legacy by taking executive action to terminate the outdated 2002 Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq (2002 Iraq AUMF) and move us closer to a future free from war.
Each year from Sep. 15-Oct. 15, Hispanic Heritage Month provides an opportunity to celebrate and honor the many vibrant contributions that our Hispanic neighbors make to our country, communities, and the world we seek.
This is a frightening and volatile moment — and one that demands restraint, reflection, and humanity. War is never the answer. And more war won’t benefit anyone. It will only make all sides less, not more secure, and inflict a terrible human toll.
