Vanessa is a Migration and Policy Administrative Assistant at FCNL. In this role, she provides policy and administrative support to the migration team and the Legislative Director of Domestic Policy, Anika Forrest. Prior to this position, Vanessa worked in education in Madrid, Spain, through the North American Language and Culture Assistants Program (NALCAP). Previously, she held roles in the U.S. House of Representatives as a Legislative Correspondent and Staff Assistant, where she managed constituent correspondence programs and various legislative portfolios. Vanessa also gained experience working on political campaigns in her home state of North Carolina.
 
Vanessa attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned degrees in Global Studies and Media and Journalism. Throughout her time at UNC, she interned at the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP), Legal Aid of North Carolina, and on state and local campaigns, in addition to serving as a research assistant on various political communication research projects.
