After Congress voted to fund the government and adjourn for the remainder of 2017 without passing the Dream Act — or similar legislation — FCNL’s lobbyist on immigration, Hannah Graf Evans, made the following statement.

We face the most urgent threat of nuclear war in a generation as tensions rise with North Korea — and we’re working relentlessly on Capitol Hill and around the country to advance a different approach to North Korea.

In early December, FCNL and our partners brought thousands of voices together for a day of action calling for protections for young immigrants who grew up in the U.S. without documentation. Can you donate to strengthen our work to help Dreamers?

President Trump has renewed calls to toughen immigration laws, including ending so-called “chain migration” after the attack in New York on December 11. FCNL rejects limiting family-based visas and urges Congress to stand strong against such proposals.

On November 20, the Trump administration cancelled Temporary Protected Status for approximately 50,000 Haitians, effective July 22, 2019. FCNL denounces this decision, particularly given the ongoing relief and rebuilding efforts in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake, 2016 Hurricane Matthew, and a major cholera epidemic.

FCNL opposes the administration’s decision to cancel Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Nicaraguans and non-decision resulting in an inadequate automatic 6-month extension for Hondurans. We urge Congress to ensure that the administration is upholding the integrity of the TPS program so that individuals are not returned to harm and to pursue long overdue stability for our immigrant neighbors.

We are sickened by the murders of 26 people at First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, TX.

On November 2nd, the bipartisan PREPARE Act unanimously passed the House Oversight and Government Reform (OGR) Committee, which was re-introduced in the 115th Congress by Rep. Matt Cartwright (PA-17) and Rep. Leonard Lance (NJ-07).
