After over two years of unimaginable suffering, the ceasefire and release of hostages and prisoners offer a fragile but vital opening for peace and recovery. Yet the people of Gaza continue to face devastating humanitarian conditions and widespread destruction. Ending the war must be only the first step, as sustained, equitable aid access and long-term reconstruction, and a long-term political solution, are essential to restore dignity, stability, and hope.

In 2025, the Advocacy Teams’ Aid, Not Arms campaign achieved historic progress: H.Res.473 (the Gaza Aid Resolution) gained 124 sponsors, 57 members joined the Block the Bombs Act, and 28 senators supported resolutions to halt offensive weapons transfers to Israel. This growing momentum reflects a powerful moral consensus: U.S. policy must prioritize aid and diplomacy over arms and impunity.

In 2026, the campaign will build on this foundation to ensure the ceasefire leads to lasting peace and justice. The United States must do everything in its power to end its complicity in hostilities and support the full restoration of humanitarian access, reconstruction, and accountability. Advocacy Teams will urge Members of Congress to support our continued Aid, Not Arms campaign by cosponsoring the UNRWA Funding Emergency Restoration Act and the Block the Bombs Act, as well as publicly and privately advocate for sustained humanitarian aid, medical evacuations, reconstruction funding, and a durable political solution that guarantees safety, dignity, and self-determination for Palestinians and Israelis alike.
