Every year, FCNL staff travel to visit Quaker Yearly Meetings across the country. These are always encouraging moments to connect with Friends, hear their concerns, and share what FCNL is doing to be their voice in Washington.

In 2026, we asked staff to share some brief reflections on their visits. If you’d like to stay connected with FCNL through the year, you can sign up for our monthly Quaker Contacts newsletter or our weekly This Week in the World

Great Plains Yearly Meeting

Wichita, KS at University Friends Meeting

Attended by: Susan Nahvi

Great Plains is a small but mighty yearly meeting, as the 25 attendees of the FCNL workshop wrote almost 40 letters to their members of Congress decrying war with Iran! Some attendees were longtime advocates, and for others it was the first time having put pen to paper on this issue.

South Central Yearly Meeting

Bruceville, TX at URJ Greene Family Camp

Attended by: Kendall Cockrell

The welcoming nature of the Annual Session and the gratefulness of FCNL’s presence made the experience meaningful. I enjoyed keynote speaker Christopher Sammond offering a perspective on Quakerism that led me to appreciate more of a witness-forward approach.

Southeastern Yearly Meeting

Parrish, FL at Dayspring Camp

Attended by: Paul Aversa

My favorite activity each day was definitely the worship sessions in the morning. As a non-Quaker, I wasn’t sure how to feel about getting involved, but it was a BEAUTIFUL experience getting to sit in silence and ponder on my impressions about the Queries as those around me shared their thoughts.
