Mothers and daughters, fathers and sons, and multi-generational families joined us to lobby to protect the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program from cuts during FCNL’s 2018 Annual Meeting. Friends have shared the practice of advocating for peace and social justice with every new generation.

I am continually struck by the passionate support Friends give FCNL, through tireless advocacy, engagement in governance, and financial support. I witnessed it first hand during FCNL’s 2018 Annual Meeting.
Like Neil and Michael Snarr, father and son members of FCNL’s general committee who lobby as family and with their entire community. The Snarrs bring the largest group to [Spring Lobby Weekend] (https://www.fcnl.org/updates/spring-lobby-weekend-2019-739) each year. They introduced me to the Religious Society of Friends and supported my advocacy when I was a student at Wilmington College. This March, Neil’s granddaughters and another large delegation of Wilmington College students will lobby Congress for just immigration policy.
I got to know Sarah Haber as a fellow Advocacy Corps member in 2017. This year I was honored to meet her mom, Chiyo Moriuchi, when the two attended Annual Meeting.
Grace Dodger, a high school student from North Carolina, impressed us all with her passion for advocacy. She is pictured below with her mom and grandad while lobbying during Annual Meeting.
FCNL’s Advocacy Teams also had a significant presence at this year’s gathering. Including these enthusiastic mother-daughter duos—15-year-old Elinor with Delcy Steffy, and [Sarah] (https://www.fcnl.org/people/sarah-freeman-woolpert) and Julia Freeman-Woolpert. Sarah is one of our [advocacy team] (https://www.fcnl.org/updates/advocacy-teams-37) trainers who can help launch a team in your community.

I am grateful to the Friends who introduced me to FCNL and the Religious Society of Friends.
