Washington, DC – The Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) today welcomes the Senate Committee on Indian Affairs’ approval of Savanna’s Act (S.1942/H.R.4485). The bill is now in the hands of the full Senate. Savanna’s Act is named after Savanna LaFontaine Greywind, a Dakota woman eight-months pregnant who went missing and was found brutally murdered in August 2017.
Washington, DC – The Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL) today applauded a pair of letters from Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) and Congressman Ted Deutch (FL-22) to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Acting USAID Administrator John Barsa seeking to restore $73 million in suspended humanitarian aid to northern Yemen, where 80% of its people live.
With the threat of a Russian invasion looming in Ukraine, faith communities are united in their message to Congress and the Biden administration: we must do everything in our power to protect human lives and prevent war.

Representative Sara Jacobs will receive FCNL’s Edward F. Snyder Award for Peace this evening during their 80th Annual Meeting, taking place through November 19.
