Abibat Rahman-Davies served as FCNL’s legislative representative for economic justice from 2021-2022. She led FCNL’s work on economic justice with a focus on economic inequality, tax fairness, reparations, labor, and health care. She helped lead the Domestic Human Needs Working Group, an alliance of almost 30 faith groups advocating for anti-poverty policies and programs. Additionally, as a part of the domestic policy team, she supports the legislative director and domestic policy team’s efforts to change government policy and practice for the better.

Before joining FCNL, she was a Humanity In Action John Lewis Fellow in Atlanta, where she worked on issues ranging from homelessness, human trafficking, voter suppression, immigration, mass incarceration, migration, and the impact of refugees. She worked with local nonprofits in Georgia such as the New Georgia Project during Georgia’s election primaries to protect the right to vote by monitoring polling booths, phone banking, and doing voter registration. Abibat also worked at the Feminist Majority Foundation, where she wrote policy recommendations to fight child marriage and fought to protect women’s healthcare access.

Abibat graduated summa cum laude from UC Berkeley with a masters in Global Studies. She also graduated magna cum laude from California Polytechnic San Luis Obispo with a bachelor’s degree in Political science and a minor in French. Abibat is from the city of Rancho Cucamonga in California and in her free time enjoys listening to music, playing her string bass and bass guitar, and eating.
