In the midst of starvation and genocide in Gaza, FCNL applauds the 27 U.S. senators who took a principled stand against U.S. complicity by voting to block offensive arms sales to the Israeli government.

These sales include 1,000-pound bombs and assault rifles that have been used by the Israeli government in crimes against humanity.

This marks the strongest Senate vote in U.S. history opposing weapons transfers to Israel.

Although this resolution did not pass, this marks the strongest Senate vote in U.S. history opposing weapons transfers to Israel. For the first time, a majority of Senate Democrats went on record in support of these Joint Resolutions of Disapproval.

We will continue pushing lawmakers to force votes and debates that challenge the status quo of unconditional U.S. military support for the Israeli government.

The humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in Gaza cannot be ignored. The world’s leading hunger monitor is warning that Gaza is facing the “worst-case scenario of famine.” More than 100 humanitarian and civil society organizations have called for immediate aid access as starvation mounts.

A growing movement is demanding an end to the assault on civilians.

Continuing to send offensive weapons to Israel as it blocks humanitarian aid and carries out a well-documented pattern of human rights abuses not only defies our values, but also violates U.S. law, including the Foreign Assistance Act and the Arms Export Control Act.

Independent monitors have reported repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, along with severe restrictions on aid delivery, as hundreds of thousands in Gaza face famine and the rapid spread of deadly disease.

Across the United States, a growing movement is demanding an end to the assault on civilians in Gaza, the West Bank, and the broader region. FCNL reiterates our call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, full humanitarian access for the U.N. and all neutral aid organizations, the restoration of U.S. funding to UNRWA, the rejection of militarized aid schemes such as the so called Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, and an end to U.S. weapons sales to the Israeli government as it carries out mass atrocities.

The time for urgent action is now.
