The Senate Climate Solutions Caucus continues to grow in 2020, demonstrating a bipartisan desire to engage on climate change!

On Oct. 23, 2019, Sens. Christopher Coons (DE) and Mike Braun (IN) formed the bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus. Both senators believe that the conversation surrounding climate change has become overly toxic, and hope that the caucus can serve as a reset so that real progress can be made in addressing what Sen. Coons characterizes as “the most pressing issues of our time.”

Like its counterpart in the House, the caucus consists of a bipartisan group of legislators that meets regularly to advance climate solutions. Its purpose is to be a space for member engagement, dialogue, legislative discussions, and briefings for senators and their staff. The caucus will admit an equal number of Republicans and Democrats and will operate by unanimous consent—meaning the caucus will act only when everyone is in agreement.

We are excited to see more senators on both sides of the aisle join the caucus. Bipartisan, bicameral support for comprehensive climate solutions is critical, and FCNL hopes to be a resource for the Senate Climate Solutions Caucus going forward.
