On September 12, 2001, FCNL asserted that “war is not the answer.” As our nation marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we object to the reactionary forces which has locked our world into a cycle of vengeance. Instead we want to uplift reflections, stories, and the people who refused to accept the march to war.
The milestone of 25 years provides us with an opportunity to collectively observe a tragedy that struck so many people, as well as engage a generation of Americans who do not have a memory of 9/11 and rely on the stories we tell.
As we mark this anniversary, it is not lost on us that our government once again has us on the precipice of another potential forever war in the Middle East. We will use our time together to center reflection, storytelling, and continuing revelation as tools to inspire a resurgent anti-war movement – pushing our government to learn from the lessons of the not-so-distant past.
