Extreme and immoral. That’s the best way to describe the budget proposal that the House is about to vote on.

If passed, Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s budget—introduced as an opening bid in negotiations to raise the nation’s debt limit—would strip millions of families of access to critical nutrition, housing, and health programs. The proposed cuts would stall our peacemaking agenda, limiting Congress’s ability to meaningfully invest in peacebuilding efforts abroad or support violence interrupter programs in our communities. It would even repeal some of the most essential components of last year’s Inflation Reduction Act (Public Law No: 117-169), which took historic steps to address the climate crisis.

Join faith leaders, service providers, advocates, and members of Congress for a rally and press conference opposing the House budget plan on April 26 a noon EDT .
