FCNL welcomes the new initiative to bring much needed relief and a pathway to citizenship for millions of young, undocumented Americans.

“Congress must immediately address the plight of DACA recipients and Dream Act-eligible immigrant youth. They have been living in limbo at the hands of a volatile administration that has failed to protect them, their communities, or their families. FCNL urges members of Congress to sign the discharge petition to allow long overdue protective legislation to come up for consideration and a vote.

“FCNL supports the bipartisan Dream Act and the USA Act, which put Dreamers on a pathway to citizenship without undermining the safety and security of border and other immigrant communities. Members of Congress must not use Dreamers as bargaining chips by passing legislation that drastically changes who this nation welcomes, undermines family unity, pours more money into border militarization, or weakens access to asylum.

“FCNL urges members of Congress to add their names to the discharge petition, and vote for bills that promote and protect the rights, safety, and dignity of all immigrants, refugees, and migrants.”

The Friends Committee on National Legislation, the oldest registered religious lobby in Washington, is a nonpartisan Quaker lobby in the public interest. FCNL works with a nationwide network of tens of thousands of people from every state in the U.S. to advocate for social and economic justice, peace, and good government.
