Sarah Johnson is the director of Friends Place on Capitol Hill. She offers hospitality and facilitates civic engagement programming for our visiting groups, including connecting them to educational and lobbying opportunities with our sister organization, the Friends Committee on National Legislation.
Sarah has spent more than a decade working with nonprofits, primarily in service learning, including completing a fellowship with Break Away in Atlanta, GA. She has a bachelor’s degree in English and history from Central Michigan University and is a graduate of the Executive Program in Social Impact Strategy at the University of Pennsylvania.
Before joining the Friends Place team in 2021, Sarah was the director of the Steinbruck Center in Washington, DC., where she served nearly six years while expanding their hostel space, developing new curriculum, and hosting more than 300 groups.
In her free time, Sarah enjoys movies, travel, baking, and spending time with her rescue pup, Soph.
