To forestall the worst of the impacts of climate change, the United States and global partners must transition our energy, transportation, and social sectors to renewable energy sources. Many of these green technologies involved in this transition require the extraction of rare earth minerals—a process that can harm surrounding communities and the environment.
It is up to all of us to ensure that the renewable energy transition is done justly.
Join FCNL’s Clarence Edwards and experts from the Inter-religious Working Group on Extractive Industries for a webinar to learn about the choices before us and actions we can take to support a just transition.
This event will be held in anticipation of the 2022 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27) which will take place next month in Egypt.
Event Highlights
- Speakers from the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Native Americans protecting Peehee Mu’Huh in Nevada will share the destructive impacts of mining on their communities .
- Faith leaders will reflect on how we can help ensure a just transition for all people and the earth.
