Letter FCNL Joins Faith Coalition Calling for Significant Cuts in Pentagon Spending 

Today, FCNL joined 31 other faith organizations and 70 faith leaders in drafting and delivering an open letter to all 2020 presidential candidates. The letter urges them to call for significant cuts to the nation’s military budget and a renewed investment in funding for education, healthcare, and other vital domestic programs.

Letter FCNL Endorses the Remove the Stain Act 

FCNL wrote a letter to Sens. Elizabeth Warren (MA) and Jeff Merkley (OR) on Nov. 21 thanking them for their introduction of the Remove the Stain Act. The bill, first introduced in the House in June, would revoke the Medal of Honor from soldiers who participated in the 1890 Wounded Knee massacre, in which hundreds of Lakota people were murdered on the Pine Ridge Reservation. FCNL is proud to endorse this legislation.

Letter New York Advocates Urge Sen. Schumer to Prevent War with Iran 

On Nov. 18, FCNL joined New York advocates in thanking Sen. Chuck Schumer (NY) for his leadership on preventing war with Iran and urging him to ensure the Khanna-Gaetz amendment to the FY2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) remains in the bill through House-Senate conference negotiations.

Over forty prominent Americans agree: Now is the time to end U.S. involvement in the Yemeni Civil War. The 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) provides a crucial chance to end our complicity in Yemen, and FCNL joined activists and former government officials in calling on Congress to seize that opportunity.

Letter FCNL Joins Coalition to Call for NDAA Measure on Diplomacy with North Korea 

FCNL and nine other foreign policy organizations urged leadership of the House and Senate Armed Services Committees to keep an amendment supporting diplomacy with North Korea in the final version of the fiscal year 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

Sept. 21 marks the International Day of Peace, which was established in 1981 by a unanimous resolution in the U.N.’s General Assembly. Letter FCNL and 50+ Faith Groups Call on Congress to Prevent War With Iran 

In a letter sent to congressional leadership today, more than 50 national faith organizations urged Congress to support a key provision in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) to prevent war with Iran. This provision, passed earlier by the House, would block government funds from being used in a war with Iran without congressional authorization.

Letter Faith Leaders Call for U.S. Leadership to Engage Peace Process in Israel/Palestine 

On the heels of the Israeli election and with the U.S. Administration preparing to release the political component of its peace plan for Israel/Palestine, 22 Christian leaders, including FCNL Executive Secretary Diane Randall, wrote to President Trump outlining their recommendations for U.S. policies that would help bring about a just and lasting end to the conflict in Israel-Palestine.

Letter National Security Experts Warn Against Deployment of Dangerous New Nuke 

Along with dozens of coalition partners and national security experts, FCNL sent Sen. Jack Reed (RI), ranking member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, a letter urging him to support a provision in the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that bars deployment of new low-yield nuclear warheads.

Letter Faith Community Urges Congress to Promote Clean Energy  

On Sept. 10, FCNL joined a coalition of 17 faith organizations in sending a letter to the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee. We asked members of Congress to prioritize clean energy tax incentives as they advance tax policy this year. This would be a key step to meaningfully lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
