Join FCNL and Amnesty International on April 16 at 8:30 p.m. EDT for a virtual screening of “A Broken Trust: Sexual Assault and Justice on Tribal Lands.”

"A Broken Trust" Documentary Screening
This 45-minute documentary tells the stories of Native survivors and the law enforcement officers trying to pursue justice. The screening will be followed by a discussion and Q&A with Kerri Colfer, FCNL’s lead Native American policy lobbyist, and Tarah Demant, director of Gender, Sexuality, and Identity Program at Amnesty International USA.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the anniversary of the House’s passage of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA). COVID-19 is likely to exacerbate domestic and sexual violence against Native women, which already occurs at levels well above the national average. In this difficult time, it is vital that we advocate for reauthorizing VAWA with strong tribal provisions.
