Olivia Delaplaine serves as the Program Coordinator for Friends Place on Capitol Hill, a Quaker learning center and guesthouse affiliated with the Friends Committee on National Legislation. At Friends Place, Olivia welcomes guests visiting Washington, D.C. She facilitates experiential civic engagement programming focused on how people can organize together to create justice, peace, and a stronger democracy.
Olivia holds a B.A. in government and politics from the University of Maryland in College Park. She speaks fluent Spanish and has many years of experience working with immigrant communities in the D.C. region.
Prior to joining Friends Place in 2022, Olivia worked in policy advocacy and community development, including roles as a legislative staffer in the Maryland General Assembly, health educator, and farmer’s market assistant. She has experience facilitating learning opportunities for groups of all ages and is passionate about empowering young people to become agents of change in their communities. She is also a lifelong Maryland and Washington, D.C.-area resident and loves to bike, try new restaurants, explore historical sites, and spend time outdoors.
