As an FCNL Young Fellow, Leona works closely with Katie Breslin on young adult outreach. She assists Katie Breslin in recruiting, training, and supporting young activists all over the U.S. in an effort to galvanize grassroots activism on college campuses and in communities as a whole.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, Leona earned her BA in Russian language and culture and Global Studies. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and an alumna of the Critical Language Scholarship Program. One of Leona’s proudest achievements during her time at UNC is the founding of UNC Students with Inter-Racial Legacies (SWIRL), an organization that creates space for mixed students on campus. She is also a proud alumna of Harmonyx, an acapella group.

Leona loves to read, write, travel, and watch way too many TV shows. During her free time, she enjoys reading great works of African and African-American writers as well as Russian literature.
