Laurie facilitates and oversees the Quaker Welcome Center programming. She collaborates with FCNL’s legislative and field teams as well as with partner organizations to provide citizen advocacy training, education on FCNL’s legislative priorities and a welcoming space for meetings and dialog.
Laurie comes to FCNL as a lifelong citizen advocate, most recently as a member of the Herndon Friends Meeting Advocacy Team. She is a volunteer facilitator with the Alternatives to Violence Project and is treasurer of the Maryland AVP chapter.
Laurie brings 20 years of experience as an organizational development consultant. She has facilitated learning processes for organizations in the US and abroad, including educators from conflict areas at Seeds of Peace. While living in France for 13 years, she served as program director for a public affairs forum in Paris. Her graduate research focused on the efficacy of citizen groups as a vector of peace in the Middle East.
