In 2015, Kavita spent a month with the organization No More Deaths providing humanitarian aid to undocumented migrants crossing the border through Arizona’s deserts. After that experience, she was convinced of the need for more compassionate, humane and de-militarized immigration policy.
She is looking forward to working with Senator Thom Tillis, Senator Richard Burr and Representative Mark Meadows, as well as her elected representatives after the 2016 election, on bipartisan legislation for comprehensive immigration reform. She is working at her dream job as a farmer and educator at Arthur Morgan School, a Quaker boarding school in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Kavita graduated from Swarthmore College in 2009 with a B.A. in chemistry and economics. She is an attender at the Celo Monthly Meeting and is her meeting’s FCNL contact.
