Katie Thurson is a rising senior at New College of Florida in Sarasota where she studies religion with a focus in children’s religious experiences. Katie is a past NCSA Student Government President and Chief of Staff and she gives campus tours for the Admissions Office. When she’s not at school, Katie is the program director at Happy Acres Ranch, a summer camp in north Florida.

Katie is passionate about food insecurity and educational accessibility, and would like to continue her studies with a Parks and Recreation degree to ultimately work as a camp director. She is looking forward to learning more about the issue of police militarization and encouraging her community to become more involved through lobbying and media engagement.
