Karen graduated from the University of Washington in Seattle with a bachelor’s degree in American ethnic studies. She currently works as an education advocate for a non-profit organization and serves as a commissioner on the Seattle Immigrant and Refugee Commission.

Karen has been an advocate since high school, when she began sharing her story to persuade the state to provide financial aid for undocumented students. Karen strives to serve and uplift immigrants, abuse survivors, and all other marginalized communities.
