Gertrude Smith is a disabled caregiver, community enthusiast, and budding politician from Seaside, California. Gertrude is an elected member of the California Democratic Central Committee, and Vice President of the Monterey County Young Democrats. They are passionate about social justice, particularly youth advocacy and racial equity.
They have participated in FCNL’s Advocacy Teams since 2015, and participated in FCNL’s in Spring Lobby Weekend in March 2018. A large part of what drives Gertrude to be so civically engaged is their spiritual beliefs. Gertrude is a practitioner of Hoodoo, as well as a Quaker, who attends Live Oak Friends Meeting, on the California Central Coast.
