FCNL has hosted Quaker volunteers as Friends in Washington for more than five decades. Friends in Washington have strengthened FCNL’s expertise in priority areas, written resource materials, and cultivated relationships with lawmakers from their states.

The Friend in Washington program is on hiatus through June 2026. This program has been a rewarding partnership between FCNL staff and the dedicated and knowledgeable individuals who are committed to seeking a better world with us. Over time, however, the environment FCNL works in and our staff capacity to support the kinds of projects that Friends in Washington take on have shifted. As we begin to implement a new strategic plan, we are pausing the program to allow for some assessment and to ensure that we can offer the people who donate their time and expertise to support FCNL’s mission a rewarding and useful experience.
While this program is on hiatus, there are still ways you can volunteer your time to support FCNL and its work. Please consider donating to FCNL, joining your local Advocacy Team, become a contact for your Quaker community, and sharing and amplifying FCNL on social media.
