Sam Horne supported the work and workers of FCNL by managing the daily operations of the office.

Sam graduated from the University of Maryland College Park in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in American History and a Master’s degree in Secondary Education- Social Studies. His work on his Bachelor’s focused on the ways Americans develop cultural and racial identities. For his Master’s degree Sam wrote his thesis on the use of games and simulations to get students more involved.

Sam came to FCNL after 4 years working in the public school system, teaching middle school students in 7th and 8th grade. Sam taught Social Studies with a mind to bring students out of the textbook and into the world beyond. Sam encouraged his students to explore the deep, rich history of the world, and confront the darker parts of humanity past and present.

Sam is a storyteller, songwriter, and happy host. He and his wonderful wife are loving keepers of a goofy greyhound. Ask him about it or anything else, he loves to carry a conversation.
