Updated: Call your Senators

Last week we were on the brink of war with Iran. For the moment, the U.S. and Iran seem to have taken a step back, but the situation remains extremely volatile.

Tell Congress:

Vote YES on the Iran War Powers Resolution

Call Now

Thanks to pressure from advocates like you, Congress is responding. On Thursday, the House passed a resolution to halt further U.S. military action. Now the Senate must act to prevent war with Iran. They could vote on this issue as soon as tomorrow.

Each time Congress votes on a resolution or bill to prevent war with Iran, they are sending the Trump administration an important message: that the American people do not support war with Iran.

In this moment of heightened tensions, every vote is important. We must be unrelenting in calling on Congress to return to diplomacy, reassert its war authority, and prevent yet another endless war in the Middle East.

Your voice is needed. Call your senators and urge them to support the Iran War Powers Resolution.

Last night, the Trump administration assassinated Maj. Gen. Qasem Soleimani, the military commander of Iran’s Quds Force. This is a dangerous escalation of the confrontation with Iran, one that will lead to more bloodshed, and expand conflict and instability throughout the Middle East.

Press Release Quaker Lobby Applauds House Rejection of War with Iran

Washington, DC – The Friends Committee on National Legislation welcomes the clear message sent by the House of Representatives last evening that war with Iran has not been authorized and attacks must cease. In a bipartisan vote of 224-194, the House invoked the War Powers Act, directing the president to terminate the use of the military to engage in hostilities in or against Iran. The Senate is expected to take up similar legislation as soon as next week.
