Quakers at the People's Climate March
April 28-29, 2017 in Washington, DC
Join thousands of people and hundreds of Friends at the People's Climate March. FCNL will be participating in several events the day before the march -- we hope to see you there!
Before You March
Friday, April 28th
All events will take place at Friends Meeting Washington in the assembly room: 2111 Florida Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20008
4:30 pm: “March Today, Lobby Tomorrow” training by FCNL’s Emily Wirzba
Join FCNL lobbyist Emily Wirzba for a 90 minute training on how to effectively engage and build a relationship with your members of Congress on climate change. Learn how to request a visit, how to structure a lobby visit, and how to find a group of people willing to lobby with you. Hear why persistent citizen lobbying from a place of faith is so important can transform the national dialogue on climate change.
6:00 pm: Potluck downstairs open to all Friends
7:00 pm: Meeting for Worship led by Quaker Earthcare Witness General Secretary Shelley Tanenbaum, with singing to follow.
Shelley combines her lifelong love of nature with many years of environmental advocacy and research. She has served as staff and a board member of QEW, Quaker Institute for the Future, Earthlight Magazine and many other non-profit organizations. She is an environmental scientist with a focus on air quality. Shelley lives in the San Francisco area and is a member of Strawberry Creek Monthly Meeting.
