Protect DACA Recipients from Deportation
Right now, the Trump administration is considering whether to put nearly 800,000 young people at immediate risk of deportation, you can take action today.
Despite the president's prior statements that he supports the recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, their future hangs in the balance. Ten states threatened to sue the president if he does not rescind the program by September 5, so we need Congress to act now.
Dreamers need you to stand with them right now - Tell your senators to support the bipartisan Dream Act and call on President Trump to protect DACA. This is also an important way to stand up for our immigrant neighbors in the face of white supremacist rhetoric and violence.
FCNL has been working towards a permanent, congressional solution for Dreamers for over 15 years. Since President Obama started the program in 2012, DACA has offered young people who grew up undocumented in the United States a way to apply for protection from deportation and legal work authorization. Keeping DACA in place is essential while Congress passes a permanent solution, such as the bipartisan Dream Act of 2017 (S. 1615) which would provide a pathway to citizenship for qualified applicants.
Senators can help Dreamers by weighing in directly with the president not to revoke DACA and by pursuing bipartisan passage of the Dream Act. Will you take action today to urge your senators to publicly support Dreamers?
There is more that you can do before September 5.
We need President Trump to hear from around the country that revoking the DACA program would be devastating and immoral. Will you write a letter to the editor or opinion editorial supporting DACA-recipients and Dreamers?
