Major Victory for Yemen – Let’s Keep Up the Momentum

By Diane Randall, April 12, 2019

FCNL is strongly committed to achieving peace in Yemen. On March 13, we celebrated Senate passage of S.J. Res. 7, a bill requiring the President to end American military participation in this conflict. Less than a month later, on April 4, the House approved the same measure, for the first time since the Vietnam war sending legislation to the President’s desk that enforces the War Powers Act.

Your support of FCNL’s persistent lobbying on Yemen has led to this breakthrough in Congress. Will you send another gift today?

This is a true grassroots victory. Whether or not the president vetoes the bill, its passage sends a powerful signal to the Saudi coalition that they can no longer act with impunity and expect U.S. support. They will be pressured to negotiate a peaceful resolution and an end to the blockade of Yemen, saving countless lives.

We are now at a critical juncture. Millions are counting on us to create a world free of war and the threat of war. We urgently need to keep this momentum going, which is why I’m asking for your support today. Can we count on you to help us continue this vital work?
