Historic Chance to End Illegal U.S. War in Yemen

By Kate Gould, February 1, 2019

I have some great news to share! We have a historic opportunity in the coming weeks to end U.S. complicity in the world’s largest humanitarian crisis in Yemen.

A bipartisan group of members of Congress has filed Yemen war powers legislation in both the House (H.J.Res. 37, introduced by Rep. Ro Khanna (CA-17)) and the Senate (S.J.Res. 7, introduced by Sens. Bernie Sanders (VT), Mike Lee (UT), and Chris Murphy (CT)). In the coming weeks, we expect every member of the 116th Congress to have to take a stand on U.S. military participation in the Saudi-led war in Yemen.

Last December, we celebrated Senate passage of this very same legislation on a vote of 56-41. Former Speaker Ryan blocked the House from voting on the resolution, but now under new House leadership, we have a clear path toward votes on the House and Senate floor.

Your voice is needed. Act now to support this historic legislation.

The more cosponsors and votes we get, the stronger the signal we send to the Trump administration and the Saudi-led coalition: Ending this war and securing a political settlement is the only way forward in Yemen.
