End Illegal U.S. War in Yemen

Support S.J. Res. 54

By Kate Gould, February 23, 2018

Without congressional approval, the U.S. has militarily supported the Saudi-led war in Yemen, facilitating the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. Bipartisan legislation introduced by Senators Bernie Sanders (VT), Mike Lee (UT), and Chris Murphy (CT) would end this illegal U.S. war in Yemen, and we expect the Senate to vote on this bill during the month of March.

•Please cosponsor and speak out in support of the Sanders-Lee legislation (S.J. Res. 54) on Yemen, which would end unauthorized U.S. military involvement in the Saudi-led war in Yemen.

•By providing mid-air refueling for Saudi and UAE bombers and weapons, intelligence, and logistical support for the Saudi-led coalition, the U.S. is complicit in violations of international law and in creating the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.

•This legislation is required to get a floor vote in the coming weeks because Congress has never authorized U.S. military involvement in Yemen and this legislation invokes the War Powers Resolution.

•Every additional vote sends the message to Saudi Arabia that the killing of Yemeni civilians must end. We have the chance to help save millions of people from starvation as a result of this devastating war.
