Conference Call: Learn More About Advocacy Teams
December 11, 2017 8:30pm EST
Around the country, people are asking "What can I do to change what's happening the world?" and "Where can my voice be most effective?" Maybe you've been asking those questions too.
Join FCNL's Advocacy Teams organizer Maiya Zwerling for a conference call on December 11 at 8:30pm EST to discuss how activists around the country can get organized in their communities to move policy in Washington, DC.
Maiya will discuss FCNL Advocacy Teams, a growing movement of committed activists who are building relationships for peace and justice. Advocacy teams include Quakers and others in local communities who use their power as constituents to foster congressional champions for peace an justice. There are over 80 teams made up of 1,300 people in 36 states.
Over the past year this network has organized hundreds of lobby visits, published dozens of letters to the editor and op-eds, met with local editorial boards, and asked critical questions at town halls. FCNL Advocacy Teams have successfully lobbied their members of Congress to sign on to legislation and take public stances for the world we seek.
