Keynote Speaker

Sister Simone Cambpell

Keynote Speaker Sr. Simone Campbell (Executive Director, NETWORK) NETWORK

Sister Simone Campbell

Executive Director, NETWORK

Sister Simone is a religious leader, attorney, and poet with extensive experience in public policy and advocacy for systemic change. In Washington, she lobbies on issues that help "mend the gaps" in income and wealth in the U.S., focused specifically on how they disproportionately affect people of color and women. She is currently the Executive Director of NETWORK. She will be speaking to us about what she is seeing and hearing in her travels, why compassion and love can be a basis for policy choices, and the immorality of excessive Pentagon spending.

Questions

Lobbying

This November, Congress will be making some of the most important, and potentially most dangerous, decisions about budget priorities that we have seen in decades. What are our priorities as a nation? Will Congress squander tens of billions of additional dollars for the Pentagon while making deep cuts to Medicaid and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)? We will urge Congress to reject more money for war and cuts to security at home.
