Thomas Swindell oversees the financial, human resources, office administration, information technology, and facilities operations at FCNL. Thomas and his staff are responsible for managing organizational structure, strategic planning, and output for accounting and finances, personnel development and compliance, IT infrastructure, property and facilities maintenance, and office coordination.

Thomas began his career in public accounting with McGladrey & Pullen, LLP. From there he spent several years working in faith based nonprofit organizations including the Riverside Church of NYC and, most recently, Lutheran Social Services of the National Capital Area. There he lead accounting teams and worked alongside executive teams to prepare, maintain, and analyze financial reports, and provide value in infrastructure stability and cultural enhancements. He has worked directly with IT, facilities, development, human resources, external auditors, and governing bodies and committees

Thomas is a graduate of Guilford College, located in Greensboro, N.C. where he obtained a B.A. in Spanish language and accounting. While at Guilford he was introduced to the Quaker faith and core values. Thomas has a graduate degree in accounting and finance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. He studied lived in Seville, Spain for more than two years and is fluent in Spanish.

He is a long-time resident of Washington, D.C., and a proud Tarheel. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife Justine, daughter Autumn, and son Nolan, all D.C. natives, as well as coaching youth basketball teams.
