Invite an FCNL staff member to offer a workshop on an issue or lobbying at your school or for your young adult group. Learn to be a more effective voice in your social justice and peace work.
FCNL staff members regularly speak to classes and student groups at Haverford, Bryn Mawr, Swarthmore, Whittier, Wilmington, Guilford, and Earlham Colleges, as well at William Penn University and the Pendle Hill retreat center. FCNL staff have also spoken at Fitchburg State College, Clark University, and the University of Michigan, as well as at meetings, churches, high schools, and peace groups around the country.
When FCNL Young Adult Program Coordinator Jennifer Chapin Harris visited Guilford College in North Carolina in 2004, she set up an information table outside the college cafeteria. Almost every student who walked by picked up a “War Is Not the Answer” bumper sticker, button, or booklet. So many students were wearing the buttons during lunch that 10 cafeteria staff members came to the table to ask for buttons as well. Within an hour, Jennifer had 45 new people registered to receive the FCNL newsletter and had given away all her “War Is Not the Answer” materials.
