Lobby Weekend 2006: "Your Country, Your Voice"
In April, 41 young adults from around the country converged in Washington to learn more about engaging in the democratic process. The event was a tremendous success with participants meeting with 22 different congressional offices to discuss U.S. policy in Iraq and nuclear disarmament. The conference also included discussions with Congressional staffers, informational sessions on specific issues, training for lobbying visits with members of Congress and their staff, and exploration of how spirituality intersects with politics.

2006 Agenda: March 31 – April 3 Spring Lobby Weekend
Democracy doesn’t end on election day. Between elections, legislators turn ideas into laws which affect our lives. So, what are you going to do about it? Bring your work for peace and justice to Capitol Hill.
FCNL’s expert staff works every day on issues vital to the U.S. and the world community, working to connect engaged citizens such as yourself with the halls of Congress. It’s your country - bring your voice to bear in the halls of power, and join us at FCNL’s Young Adult Spring Lobby Weekend, March 31 – April 3, 2006.
Friday evening - Join us for an opening reception. Talk with FCNL staff, check out our new “green” building, and network with others from around the country.
Saturday - The day will be devoted to lobby training by FCNL staff and briefings by congressional staffers.
Sunday - A panel of young, active Quakers will begin a dialogue on how their faith and experience lead them to work for political change and how FCNL is an important part of that work. In the afternoon we’ll break into lobby groups for lobby strategy planning.
Monday - Lobby your congressperson and/ or senators on important issues.
