How does FCNL determine what to lobby on and which legislation to support? The organization's Policy Statement and Statement of Legislative Priorities guide staff.
Friends across the United States participate in setting FCNL's policy and priorities. The FCNL General Committee (board of governors) regularly consider the statements at FCNL's Annual Meeting, held each November in Washington, DC.
FCNL Policy Statement
The FCNL Policy Statement sets forth FCNL's broad objectives for public policy. The General Committee revises and updates the Policy Statement on an ongoing basis. It approved the current statement in November 2003.
Statement of Legislative Priorities
General Committee members consider FCNL's
legislative priorities for 2008-09.
The Statement of Legislative
Priorities is drawn from the Policy Statement and identifies the limited set of issues on which staff should focus time, energy, and resources for a two-year session of Congress. The General Committee approved the current priorities, for the 111th Congress, in November 2008.
