Ball State Students to Learn New Tools for Participating in Democracy

Ball State University…The Friends Committee on National Legislation (FCNL), the non-partisan Quaker lobby in Washington, DC, is inviting area students to join a movement advancing peace and justice through bi-partisan cooperation on Capitol Hill. FCNL will be holding lobbying training at Ball State on November 4, in an event sponsored by the Center for Peace and Conflict Studies.
FCNL has been building relationships with lawmakers and advocating peace and justice legislation on Capitol Hill for more than 60 years.
What: Training on how to lobby Congress for U.S. withdrawal from Iraq
When: November 4th, 1-4pm
Where: Forum Room at the Student Center
Refreshments will be provided.
Sometimes changing Washington seems daunting, but research shows that thoughtful citizen lobbying is the most effective way to influence Congress. FCNL will prepare students to be effective advocates and to begin long term relationships with their members of Congress.
