House Rejects New Nuclear Weapon
Good news! Congress is moving closer to stopping new nuclear weapons this year. The military authorization bill passed by the House on May 22 included no money for the "Reliable Replacement Warhead" (RRW). The administration had asked for money to build this new nuclear bomb. The House Armed Services committees have eliminated all money for RRW program, and an amendment to add the funding back in was defeated by a vote of 271 to 145. Find out how your representative voted.
The House Energy and Water Appropriation subcommittee also did not include any money for RRW when it considered its spending bill in mid-June.
Urge your senators to follow the House's lead and reject this new nuclear weapon when the Senate considers the military authorization bill this summer.

Take Another Step to Oppose More Nukes
The administration also wants money to build new bomb facilities. These storage facilities would free up other bomb plants to build new nuclear weapons. Public response to this plan has been overwhelming: the Department of Energy had to extend the comment period due to high response.
Urge Congress to cut the funding for this new bomb facility, part of the plan called "Complex Transformation."
