Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers)
2001 S. Magnolia Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32301

Dear
President George W. Bush:
The Tallahassee Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of
Friends
(Quakers)
seeks to answer to that of God in everyone and thereby live
in ways that remove the causes of war. Out strong opposition
to military action against Saddam Hussein grows from this faith
base. We join the many other voices urging that Iraq's compliance
with the UN Security Council resolutions be addressed by the
Security Council through multilateral, diplomatic means, including
the resumption of U.N. weapons inspections.
We are glad that congressional hearings will be held. Perhaps
through them it will become clear that an expanded war will
only further devastate the Iraqi people and make more enemies
for the United States.
We ask that you listen deeply for a solution to this complex,
frightening problem; a solution that will de-escalate the violence
and address the severe health, educational and other infrastructure
needs of the Iraqi people. We hold you, your administration
and the world in prayer as we all search together for ways that
will bring peace to everyone.
In
peace,
Tallahassee
Friends Meeting
