On July 12, 2007, sixteen members of Congress joined hundreds of others in celebrating FCNL's transformation of two Civil War-era buildings across the street from the Senate into a high performance, energy-efficient green building. FCNL's building provides a model for what Congress and the federal government could do to cut the energy consumed by the federal government and promote energy conservation. Buildings account for 50 percent of U.S. energy consumption and 40 percent of CO2 emissions.
