FCNL’s building has already won two awards:
"Best Environmentally Friendly Building" to FCNL and Kfoury Construction

The Maryland/DC Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP) in May 2006 recognized the new FCNL building on Capitol Hill at a banquet and ceremony attended by area real estate developers, marketers, build contractors, financiers, and architects. The award is for
Best Environmentally Friendly Building
Presented to a building that has exceeded current criteria for sustainable design through any or all of the following: energy efficiency, use of recycled materials, maximization of green space, alternative energy sources, and other such measures.

In making the presentation, the president of the NAIOP, Thomas J. Bisacquino, noted that this project achieved environmental and energy goals while renovating a Civil War-era historic building on Capitol Hill and adding a modern addition and that fit well into both the historic residential and the federal office contexts.
Presidential Citation for Sustainable Building Design from the DC Institute of the American Institute of Architects to FCNL architects Burt, Hill
October 2006
The Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA)in October 2006 presented a presidential Citation for Sustainable Design to Burt Hill, FCNL, and Kfoury Construction (now K3 Construction Group) for the FCNL Green Building.
"Sometimes buildings are said to have a soul," explained AIA Vice President Todd Ray in presenting the award during a ceremony at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. "This one has a conscience." The judges for this award were particularly impressed with the combination of historic renovation and green design. In presenting the award, Ray highlighted the ground source geothermal heating, the green roof, and the ability to combine a modern design with the historic brick architecture of the area.
