See the printer-friendly version of this alert We need your help to get that legislation passed. Nearly 2,000 of you have already written to your member of Congress in support of the bill. Some have also expressed disappointment with FCNL's position, because the legislation would not create a single-payer health care system in the United States. We agree that a single-payer plan would ensure that everyone has affordable access to comprehensive health care. That's why we're excited about this bill -- we believe that it includes a major step towards a single-payer plan: the public insurance option. The public plan would improve the quality of health care, make it more affordable, and rein in the excesses of the private insurance industry. Let's take this first step in the direction we want to go. We need your voice today in support of a public plan. Though the House bill currently contains a public plan, members of Congress are being pressured every day by insurance companies and other well-funded groups to strip out the public option and other controls on the private insurance industry. Take Action Write your representative today. Urge her or him to support a health care bill that includes a strong public plan and to vote for any amendments that would expand that plan to be available to more people. If you have already written your representative, please ask your friends to write as well. Members of Congress need to hear that their constituents support affordable comprehensive health care for everyone.
