Health Care: The House Is on the Right Course

At long last the House has a comprehensive health care reform bill. And we like it.

America's Affordable Health Choices Act would put high quality, comprehensive, and affordable health care within reach of everyone in this country. Here's why we're pleased:

Health care for all: includes safeguards that require private insurance companies to meet certain minimum standards of coverage and to offer health insurance to everyone in this country without discrimination.
A competitive public system to improve quality and reduce costs: includes an outline for a strong public insurance plan that would improve the quality of health care and help reduce costs, though the outline needs to be filled in and expanded to be effective.

House leadership is planning to fast-track this bill to the floor of the House in the next 10 days, but we've learned that some legislators may try to delay passage of the bill or introduce weakening amendments. Your representative needs to hear that you support the bill.
