See the printer-friendly version of this alert This week, the House is scheduled to vote on legislation that could help build a new architecture for U.S. foreign policy based on preventing war. The Foreign Relations Authorization Act (H.R. 2410) would expand the number of diplomats trained in preventing crises, authorize hundreds of millions of dollars for the new civilian response corps, direct the United States to fully meet its financial commitments to the United Nations, and require the State Department to develop a strategy to prevent genocide and mass atrocities. FCNL's lobbyists have learned that some members of Congress will try to weaken the legislation on the House floor with amendments to reduce funding for the United Nations and undermine efforts at diplomatic engagement with Iran, among others. Your representative needs to hear that you support H.R. 2410 as it was passed out of the House Foreign Affairs Committee -- without amendments. Take Action Call your representative between the hours of 9am and 6pm Eastern time. Urge her or him to support the version of the Foreign Relations Authorization Act (H.R. 2410) that was passed by the House Foreign Affairs Committee -- without amendments. You may also call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-224-3121 and ask for your representative by name. Background Find out more about why we at FCNL are so excited about this bill.
