Action: No New Nuclear Weapons
Printer-friendly version of this alert
The Bush administration is trying, yet again, to reignite the U.S. nuclear weapons program. Under the proposed plan, called Complex Transformation, the United States would build a new nuclear weapons plant at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico. This plant would produce plutonium pits, the primary detonators in modern nuclear weapons.
The plan would set up the infrastructure to allow the United States to build new nuclear weapons in the future, despite the country's moral and legal obligations to reduce its weapons arsenal.
Take Action
Help stop the U.S. from building a new generation of nuclear weapons. The Energy Department is currently accepting public comments on the proposal as part of their assessment of its environmental impact. Register your opposition to new nuclear weapons between now and April 10 by submitting an email comment to the Energy Department. Copy the message to your members of Congress, who will be considering the administration's nuclear weapons budget request this spring. Remember to personalize the sample letter FCNL provides.
