Quaker Lobby Plans for Executive Secretary Transition
Two years ago our Executive Secretary, Joe Volk, informed the Executive Committee that he planned to retire in 2011. This year Joe confirmed his intention, telling the FCNL General Committee that he will retire in March 2011 at his normal retirement age. In its 66-year history, FCNL has had only three executive secretaries, E. Raymond Wilson (1943 – 1962), Ed Snyder (1962 – 1990), and Joe Volk since March 1, 1990. With many months to plan for Joe’s successor, we have begun a deliberate and thorough selection and transition process.
Joe and the staff will remain focused on seizing the tremendous opportunities for policy change (Joe Volk audio clip) that we see in Washington right now. A Search Committee, led by Gretchen Hall, has been appointed by the FCNL Executive Committee to conduct the search process.
