Leif Carlson
Program Assistant: Quaker Nuclear Disarmament Program
Leif Carlson recently moved to the DC area from Indianapolis, Indiana. He spent the past four years in Indianapolis working at the Peace Learning Center, where he taught conflict resolution and character education to inner-city youth and adults. Leif also has a master’s degree from Earlham School of Religion in religious studies and an emphasis on Palestinian/Israeli peace and justice. Upon completing his MA in 2005, he traveled to Palestine through Holy Land Trust’s Palestinian Summer Encounter program and was an intern at Wi’am (a Palestinian conflict resolution center) in Bethlehem. Leif returned to Palestine in 2008 to serve as the Summer Coordinator for the same program and supervised over 60 international volunteers in their internship placements, Arabic instruction and travel opportunities.
Leif is eager to begin his work at FCNL in the Quaker Nuclear Disarmament Program. He hopes to use his previous experiences and education in his internship, but also is excited to learn other aspects of social justice work at FCNL.
